| **3**: I wasn't able to find solid information for P271x releases, thus far... One would assume they're newer, but the aforementioned thread shows P211x from -4 onwards, so I can't tell for sure, however, [several](https://forum-nortel-spb-ru.translate.goog/archive/forum-10-pbx/t-20338.html?_x_tr_sch=http&_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc) [threads](https://forum-nortel-spb-ru.translate.goog/archive/forum-10-pbx/t-9503.html?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc) mentions it as a fairly new thing, using 4.0x programming software, which is one of the newer ones, [that thread](https://forum-nortel-spb-ru.translate.goog/archive/forum-10-pbx/t-25177.html?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc) also goes into more detail, but since it supports PRI, I'm going to assume it's -6 (Version 6) level. | **3**: I wasn't able to find solid information for P271x releases, thus far... | ## Software | |
| |
| There are several software pieces written for TD816, including that Russian one, the «KX-TD Programmator», but there are those who says it [«will mess up your system.»](https://sundance-communications.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/583468/re-some-kx-td816-questions#Post583468) I didn't try it, so I won't link it here because I don't know if it's any good. | |
| |
| ### «Digital Super Hybrid System - Operating & Maintenance Tool» | |
| |
| It's the [in]famous dealer software. Nearly impossible to find, it's deemed as not needed to may folks around those telecom. forums. But it's a thousand miles more practical than configuring via the proprietary telephone (PT), and some people might not have one. | |
| |
| It's old and runs on MS-DOS, FreeDOS or DOSBox, but at least it's official. The only way I was able to find it was by searching through Usenet and ending up at [this thread](https://www.usenetarchives.com/view.php?id=comp.dcom.telecom.tech&mid=PDExNDI2NTkyNzMuMTEyOTc2LjMwNDk4MEBpNDBnMjAwMGN3Yy5nb29nbGVncm91cHMuY29tPg) in which the guy asked for donations and got trolled to the ground. But one guy linked the URL to the dealer software, that was, thankfully [archived by Web Archive](https://web.archive.org/web/20040814204044/http://download.panasonic.co.uk/bts/) (I love this tool.). | ## Programming Software |
| |
| I've also managed to track two more versions (3.41X and 4.02B2, respectively from circa 1998 and 2000, judging by the copyright notice.) to [a Russian abandonware website called «Old DOS»](http://old-dos.ru/index.php?page=files&mode=files&do=show&id=102232#download). | For KX-TD816/KX-TD1232 there are at least three programs I know of: |
| | * **Digital Super Hybrid System - Operating & Maintenance Tool (DSHSOMT)**, which was made for MS-DOS; |
| | * **Panasonic Programmer for Dealers (PPD)**, written for 32-bit Windows; |
| | * **KX-TD Programmator**, a third-party Russian system that some folks says [«will mess up your system.»](https://sundance-communications.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/583468/re-some-kx-td816-questions#Post583468). |
| |
| For convenience, I'm also providing those here. | There are possibly more, but those are the main ones. They connect to the unit via serial port and are somewhat dependant on the firmware version (the infamous Programmator, for example, probably messes some KSU's because it tries to change stuff in a way that's incompatible with certain firmware versions.) |
| |
| | *Version* | *OS* | *Executable* | *Target Market* | *Download* | Compatibility | | DSHSOMT is not easy to find, but you'll find it if you're so determined. Also probably holds true for PPD, but I wasn't able to track any version of it. Programmator is out there, but I didn't bother with it. |

| Again, my equipment has the P401A60905A ROM version. 3.41X had it's issues at the first moment, but it was the version that best worked for me. Not only it can display and change every configuration as it was also able to back up the configuration. Your mileage may vary, depending on region and ROM version. | Notice how the major seems to line up nicely with what I call «firmware level». Also, according to information from the thread in which I found the 6.0X version, it looks like the newer versions are somewhat backwards compatible with older EEPROM's. However, I'd be careful, since 3.41X, for example, shows a lot of things that my PBX doesn't have, and if I try to configure them, sometimes it even succeeds without telling me that the firmware doesn't support the feature I tried to configure. |
